OLOF INGER 

SECOND STATE

In Second State, Olof Inger creates a physical experience that explores the connection between heat and the body. The exhibition comprises an installation-Untitled Radiators, a series of sculptures-Encounters, and a video installation-At the Mall.

With this exhibition, Inger observes the invisible - the countless forces that are constantly rotating and pulsating around us and within the human body.

With Untitled Radiators, Inger creates an environment where heat becomes the medium, and the viewers’ bodies define the continuously evolving boundaries of the installation.

Inger links the body and the world around it in Encounters, a series of physical objects made with Polycaprolactone (PCL)- a white-colored biodegradable polyester that reacts to pressure and heat.

At the Mall depicts the energy circling between dichotomous systems - the exterior and the interior, the cold and the warm. Recorded with a thermographic camera, Inger explores the juxtaposition of active urban energies invisible to the human eye.

Olof Inger lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. Inger received a BFA at the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm in 2012 and an MFA at Yale University, USA in 2014. Recently, Inger has showed his works at ZONA MACO, Mexico City (2014), ANNAELLEGALLERY, Stockholm (2013), Miguel Abreu Gallery, New York (2013), Gallery 109, Brooklyn (2012), MARKET ART FAIR, Stockholm (2012), Ribordy Contemporary, Genève (2012). In 2013, he received a grant from the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation, and presented a body of work at the Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm in association with the grant. Additionally, in 2012 Inger was awarded the Beartling Foundation art grant. The exhibition opening on April 18th is Inger's second solo exhibition at ANNAELLEGALLERY.

I utställningen Second State skapar Olof Inger en fysisk upplevelse genom att synliggöra samspelet mellan värme, arbete och energi. Utställningen innefattar installationen Untitled Radiators, en serie skulpturer Encounters, samt videoverket At the Mall.

Olof Inger observerar det osynliga – de otaliga krafter som ständigt roterar och pulserar omkring oss och i människokroppen. Med installationen Untitled Radiators bygger Inger upp en situation där åskådaren konfronteras med värmen som material. 

Inger belyser omvandlingen mellan värme och arbete i sina skulpturer Encounters. Skulpturerna är gjorda i Polycaprolactone (PCL), en vit bio-polyester termoplast som reagerar beroende av form och temperatur. Encounters tar form efter rumsliga värmeledande fragment men bildar också materiella skulpturer av mötet mellan två kroppar. 

Videoverket At the Mall, skapad med värmekamera, skildrar den energiöverföring som sker mellan två system – det inre och det yttre, det kalla och det varma. Genom att använda sig av termografiken visualiserar Inger, det för vårt mänskliga öga annars osynliga, energin som uppstår i mötet mellan människor. För att belysa transmissionen använder sig Inger av bild, färg och ljud. 
At the Mall överblickar hur människans yttre såväl som inre har möjlighet att enas, bli ett, bli detsamma.

Olof Inger (1979) bor och jobbar i Stockholm. Inger har en BFA från Kungliga Konsthögskolan, Stockholm (2012) och en MFA på Yale University, USA (2014). Inger har tidigare visat sina verk på ZONA MACO (2014), Miguel Abreu Gallery, New York (2013); Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm (2013); ANNAELLEGALLERY, Stockholm (2013); 109 Gallery, Brooklyn (2012); Market Art Fair, Stockholm (2012); SuperMarket, Stockholm (2012); Ribordy Contemporary, Genève (2012), m.fl. 2013 blev han tilldelad Maria Bonnier Dahlin Stipendiet och i december 2012 Baertling stipendiet. Utställningen den 18 april 2015 är Olof Ingers andra soloutställning på ANNAELLEGALLERY.
